Unveiling the Mystery of the Ether Element

The universe has been an ever-present mystery where throughout human history philosophers, scientists and mystics have pondered the nature of existence and the elements.  The subtle element of ether is an essential element, yet many people are totally unaware of the experience of ether in their lives.

Ether is not a tangible essence; it is everywhere and exists in everything.  You will know when ether is out of balance in your life, but not necessarily when ether is in balance.  Spiritual practice, meditation, quietness, and stillness will bring you into connection with this beautiful element.  Yet these things are very difficult for some people to attain.  As we fill the space that is ether with action, thoughts, emotional drama, and the act of constant doing, it is little wonder that for many people there is a feeling of disconnect, a sense of loss and not knowing who you truly are.

Ether is the element that connects all that is together, it is the primal vibration in our universe and world that enables all other elements to manifest. Without it, literally nothing can move, or manifest. Space is required to allow for movement and expression.

Here I unveil the mystery of the ether element which stands out as being elusive, ethereal, and enigmatic. It is often referred to as the fifth element.

Ancient Ether

The concept of ether in ancient Greek philosophy was introduced as the substance that fills the region of the universe above and beyond the earth’s sphere.   It is considered a pure essence that is required to transcend the earthly realm.  Similarly, in Hindu cosmology ether or ‘akasha’ represents the primordial substance from which all things are formed and it exists beyond the physical realm.

Ether associates with space, the vast expanse that encompasses all creation.  It is the medium in which light and sound travel, therefore enabling communication and perception.  Ether is a subtle element that pervades everything, yet it remains intangible and elusive to those who are unaware of it’s presence.

Spiritual Significance

Ether is often linked with higher consciousness and spiritual connection. When you look up into the sky and beyond into a night sky, you may just sense that it holds infinite possibilities for creation.  Ether symbolises the boundless, limitless potential that is inherent in the universe.

Mindfulness and meditation offer a way to tap into the etheric realm.  By doing this you can unlock hidden truths through attuning oneself to the etheric realm. Life is enriched with the awareness of the ether in your life.

Ether and the Material World

While the concept of ether has ancient roots, the modern world and the way we live has largely abandoned it in favour of a more frantic, ego driven material worldview.  Ether was once proposed as the medium in which light waves travelled, but experiments such as the Michelson-Morley experiment, in the late 19th century tried to prove the presence of ether but failed leading to its dismissal.

However, quantum physics and cosmology have reignited the concept of a fundamental field that permeates the universe.  Quantum physics theory suggest the existence of a unified field that underlays all physical attributes, which bears up against the ancient notions of ether.

Ether and the Healing Connection

Dr Randolph Stone the creator of Polarity Therapy calls Ether, the unifying fields of intelligent energy. The ether element is a fundamental presence that is required to allow for healing, whether that is to give space to the body to release tension, give space to the mind and emotions to let go or to allow for greater awareness in one’s life.  It is an essential element from which all other elements (air, fire, water and earth) exist.  Balancing the ether element within the body promotes overall health and wellbeing. Whilst practices such as yoga, Tai chi and Qigong aim to harmonise the subtle energies within the body, including the energy centres of the chakras.

Living with Ether

While the ether element may seem esoteric, it is never the less vital in our everyday lives. Without space nothing can manifest, nothing can move or breathe or exist.  Ether is the substance from which all other substances can evolve. It is the thing that connects all life together. Ether plays out in our everyday life.  The natural pause between the in breath and the out breath for example, or a pause to gaze out of a window or closing your eyes for a moment of peace.  These simple acts connect you to the ether element. The more you become aware of the pauses in your life that are not filled with doing or thinking the more you begin to feel the power of ether.

Ether in the Body

Ether is represented by the spaces in our body; the cavities such as the mouth and throat, the digestive tract, the colon, the joints of the body in fact anywhere space is required for other functions to happen. Without ether in your joints, they will not move and be very painful.  Without ether in your colon, the air cannot move the material through the colon.  Without ether in the digestive tract, fire cannot burn for healthy metabolism. Ether also governs hormones and the neck area. So, the energy of ether is essential for the physical to work.

Ether in the Mind

If you ever come across someone who has just come round from anaesthetic, they may seem spacious, out of it, not connected to ground control!  Or if you have woken up in the middle of the night not knowing where you are, this is how ether can operate in you mind. Too much ether leaves you way too ‘out there’. It’s like you cannot feel into your body or grab hold of your thoughts.  Too much ether in your mind can leave you feeling disconnected, as if you don’t belong or something is missing.

There are two opposing forces at play with the element of etherGrief because its too painful to feel and ether has shut down as you are unable to express how you are feeling. The opposite is expression. In other words being able to express your thoughts and emotions clearly.
