How to Prevent Injury and Burnout – What Therapists Need to Know

One of the reasons why I got into energy healing is through practicing as a massage therapist. I had a thriving massage practice for over 6 years. I loved seeing the effects it had on a client.

But I realised that it was not a career that I could see myself doing for the rest of my working life.  No matter how much I would look after myself with right posture, taking regular breaks, looking after my own health etc, I would still feel exhausted and drained after a days work.

I began to resent my work as I gave so much of my energy and I started to dread doing more than 3 clients in a day. I felt limited, not just in physical limitations but I felt I wanted to offer more to my clients.  I just didn’t know what at the time. Until I came across Polarity Therapy.

New Career to Change My LIfe

It was 22 years ago when I embarked on a new career and trained in massage therapy, with the view of changing my life.  It was during my training that I bumped into one of the other teachers in the natural therapy college where I was studying.  We began talking and he started to explain about energy, polarities, and healing.  It was one of those ‘light bulb’ moments in my mind.  As I listened every fibre in my body wanted to know more.

After completing the massage course, I signed up to the polarity therapy foundation course. The theory alone just put ‘life’ into perspective and gave me a different viewpoint on how I could work with a client’s body to release tension and pain.

Massage Practice Gave me the Experience I Needed

When I left college I started a massage practice. It gave me the experience to confidently manage clients and their bodies.  Because I had gained knowledge about energy through the polarity course, I realised that I could affect a far better experience for the client by employing some of the polarity techniques I learned in the foundation course, in my massage.

It was only after I went on to complete the full polarity therapy training and started employing the techniques and skills that I learned that I realised what a special therapy this was.

I was able to not just treat pain and tension in the body, but affect a person’s energy field and release emotional blocks.  In addition, deal with helping a person make sense of their mental world, relationships, career and life in general.

Polarity Therapy Enabled Me to Help a Client Transform Their Life

I quickly realised the benefits of polarity therapy as a stand-alone therapy and for the past 22 years now, I have never looked back.  I see in my practice time and time again how the effects of working with a the polarities of life energy have such an impact on a persons well being.

As a Polarity Therapist, you can work in so many creative ways to enable a client back to health.  There are various different paths into a persons system and you have a choice with Polarity Therapy.

You can create a treatment that is more physical and functional in nature, for example to treat a frozen shoulder, a lighter etheric aspect to treat a sleep or activating and stimulating treatment to generate movement in a persons life.  All lead to transformation and all can be done through the body.

For me personally, it has given me a diverse and long career in the healing field.

The Four Pillars of Health

If you are a massage therapist or a bodyworker that feels like they want to give more to their clients or want to save your own body from the wear and tear of the physicality of massage then Polarity Therapy is brilliant.

You learn about four pillars of health, which include; body treatments, nutritional guidance, movement therapy and mind therapy.

Because of the different levels of touch that we use in polarity technique, it saves your hands and your body from over use injuries.  You can really relax into a treatment without putting pressure on your own body.

Plus I have found that you get something back when working with the polarities of energy and feeling exhausted after a days work is a thing in the past.

  • Are you a bodywork therapist feeling the pressure on your body?
  • Are you a bodyworker seeking to work with people in a more holistic way?
  • Are you a bodywork therapist that loves their work but is seeking more knowledge and skill?
  • Are you a bodywork therapist wanting to enhance their clients experience in a deeper way?

Words from Jane

Through my own personal life experiences, I know what it is like to be physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually fragmented. Using my experience of 24 years experience in polarity therapy and shamanic healing I enable a person back to health and happiness. Tailoring sessions to the needs of my client. Whether that be talking through your problem, activating energy within your body to release pain, tension, and emotions, using sound vibration to clear stagnant energy, journeying, and soul retrieval to delve deep and clear past patterns.
