Burnout is the Inability to Pause

Do you feel stretched to your limits? Do you find it difficult to stop and pause? Do you feel wired but tired and exhausted?

These are all signs of becoming ‘burned out’ by life. Here I explain the metaphysical theory of how you can burn yourself out of living a vital life. Including the metaphysical world, how energy behaves, what causes burnout, the 3 stages of burnout, and how to avoid burning out.

The Metaphysical World

The metaphysical is the essence or source of life in other words, energy is the real matter behind substance and form. It is this essence that forms the blueprint for our bodies, our thoughts, and emotions as well as our soul and spirit. We simply do not survive without this source of energy. In different cultures around the world, energy is also known as Chi in China, Prana in India, Mana in Polynesia.

In simple terms, energy is composed of sound and light that come together to create a constant vibration.  So, energy is a constant vibration.

Energy is something that can be perceived if we are aware enough. However, when we are completely shut off from our ‘feeling state’, we are not aware of it and when you are in burnout your underlying energy matrix or vibration has lost its sparkle, its ability to move and flow.

Energy is subtle yet powerful and the experience of it comes in many forms.

Energy pervades everything; physical, mental, thoughts, sexual, spiritual, cosmic, all that vibrates, heat, light, gravity, vitality, magnetism, vigour, power, unconscious, conscious, and super conscious.

The science behind this energy and how it behaves can be found through the study of quantum physics.

Energy can behave in a certain way that sometimes cannot be explained or measured and sometimes even scientists are unable to ‘prove’ the existence beyond that which we are unable to perceive.

Every experience we have in life is an energetic experience. The movement of energy is always pulsatory, so the human energy system changes its polarity on a rhythmic basis.

Energy can be polarised into either an attractive or repulsive phase of activity in other words, we are constantly attracting and repulsing energy moment to moment, whether we are conscious of this or not.

The denser and slower the vibration of energy the denser the material or form (like our bones), the higher vibration the lighter the material or form (like our thoughts).  Everything is energy, we came from a source of energy and we return to a source of energy. Energy is the intelligent information link between our body, mind, soul, and spirit.

Energy forms the patterns of our soul, our thoughts, emotions, and physical structure.  When our energy is disturbed it can affect any aspect of ourselves – body, mind, emotions, or soul.

Energy Behaves Like Electricity

Energy is like electricity that has a source of power.  Electricity has a voltage (source of energy), current (flow of energy) and resistance (opposition to the flow). When electricity is working correctly it lights and heats our homes.  However, when there is a disruption in the flow of electricity back to its voltage or source of power, problems occur, the lights go out and heating is lost.

In order to sustain continuous power flow of light and warmth you need a balance of the current flow and resistance flow in order to provide stability of electrical power. Too much flow and you blow a fuse, too little flow and there is not enough power to function. The same thing happens within our bodies, mind, emotions, and spirit.

Energy Acts Like a Magnet

Energy flows like electricity, but it also behaves like a magnet.  This intelligent energy is incredible and acts through the principle of attraction and repulsion in every aspect of life.

“Our whole lives, happiness and wellbeing depend on this rhythmic balance of relationship between the two poles of energy” Dr Randolph Stone.

Burnout is when the flow has stopped behaving like a magnet and its return to source is compromised.

Attraction is when the flow of energy is coming inwards and is recognised as sensory in quality, in other words we experience this phase of the energy through our senses.   Repulsion is the opposite direction, when energy is going outwards away from our senses and is recognised as a motor force.

3 Stages to Burnout

Energy disturbance can be categorised in 3 states from acute to chronic.

Stage one AGITATION

Life is about ebb and flow and sometimes we experience short terms stressful situations, and I call these bumps in the road.  They are short lived situations that come and go.  For example, you have booked to go on holiday and the week leading up to you flying off to your favourite place brings about its own stress.  You may find yourself working extra hard to get things done before you go.  For a time, you may feel stressed and overwhelmed, a little anxious, suffer with a headache, lack a peaceful night’s sleep and your body will be tense.  However, once you are on your holiday the stress melts away and your body, mind and emotions find balance and symptoms go away naturally.

Stage two TURBULENCE

Your energy can quickly become turbulent if these little bumps in the road continue.  Energy becomes turbulent, when there is no space (or holiday) in between the bumps in the road to recover.  Life seems to go from one drama to another and you become overwhelmed by events.

For example, you suddenly get extra workload because a colleague has been made redundant, not only are you thinking if it’s going to be your turn next but you may also be dealing with caring for an elderly parent at home and to top it all your son or daughter are due to take their exams and are also feeling stressed. You feel like you are pulled from pillar to post.  Your energy is becoming agitated and in time will you energy turns turbulent.

Energy is turbulent when you have no reserves left, it may take all your energy to complete one task.  There is no time to rest or recoup as you go from one thing to another without a thought for how you are truly feeling and ignoring your tiredness.

Pain in the body, digestive problems, anxiety, frustration, resentment start to build up.  When you do stop you may find you are exhausted yet cannot rest as your mind is constantly switched on thinking about what you must do next.  External therapy is required to regain your balance.

Stage 3 BLOCKAGE

Energy does not really get blocked, but I am using this as an analogy to get the point across.  When you have been in stage 2 for a long period of time, it gets serious.  Your energy field and the matrix of your body is compromised.  Serious illness can result, depression, chronic pain and tension will manifest, and life becomes joyless.  You are on a conveyer belt going no-where, feeling stuck unable to move in life.  Hopelessness sets in.  This is burnout and help is required to get your energy matrix motivated and your connection to your soul and spirit activated.  Help is required.

These 3 stages of energy de-polarisation can lead to many problems through the four layers of our earthly being, such as:

Physical – pain, injury, illness

Mental – depression, anxiety, dementia etc

Emotional – grief, anger, fear, frustration

Soul – serious illness like cancer, MS, Parkinsons etc

How to Avoid Burning out your Source of Life

Breathing:

We take our first breath when we are born and a last breath when we die.  It makes sense then that the breath is a fundamental part of being alive.  The breath activates energy to move throughout our body. The light vibration of the breath synergises with the atoms, cells, tissues and bodily functions to bring us the essence of energy.  The breath helps us to connect and feel that aspect of energy throughout our being.  Without breath there is simply no movement of life.

Randolph Stone the (creator of polarity therapy) points out that the breath is much more than oxygen, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and water vapour, these are just chemical components that can be measured in the breath and in the air.  It is the act of respiration that makes a direct connection between the energy fields and the energy of the body.

Respiration is the human action that allows and brings energy to be activated in the body from the wider fields of energy.  When we breathe, we are alive, we can move, without breath or air we cannot experience the consciousness of our soul, our body, mind and emotions.

“Breathing allows us to be aware of our consciousness.

Breathing is like a litmus paper for our state of health”

Good breathing is a key to good health. Just look at the breathing patterns of sick people or people who are badly stressed. Their breathing becomes very shallow and broken like it is “unintelligent”, disconnected. When you are burned out your breathing will be affected.

“If you want to change the way you are feeling then change the way you are breathing”

Food is another key aspect of ensuring we enjoy good health.  The quality of food and drink that we take into our bodies is vital in keeping the chemistry balanced in our bodies. Food gives you ‘fire in your belly’ which governs the amount of energy we have to use as fuel for our bodies to move and our brain to function.  Feed your body with as much unprocessed, fresh plant-based food as possible and you will be amazed at how good you feel.  But don’t make the mistake of going on a diet!  When you are in burnout, the right nourishment is the key.  If you are in a chronic state, then a juice diet may not be the right approach, as the effects of detoxing may be too much for your already compromised system.  It’s about getting your gut microbiome in a better shape, before embarking on any extreme cleansing methods.  You want to create a long term plan not a quick fix.

Mental Health – how we think can literally create our reality.  The awareness of our thoughts and attitudes are crucial in our ability to make the choices that are right for us and to express our true identity in this world.  To be aware of the imbalances in our thought processes, to be conscious of how our behaviour impacts others as well as ourselves can help to make informed choices that takes away a lot of stress that we create in our lives. Awareness of your thoughts is a good path to health.

Emotions – Being able to understand your emotional triggers and express your emotions effectively, is key to preventing pain and illness. Emotions are how we express our identity and finding that true authentic expression nourishes and replenishes your energy.  Trapped emotions literally create havoc with our physical body.

Movement is an expression of life itself.  To move is to live your life fully.  Movement on a physical level is vital in keeping the functioning of your body healthy.  The right physical movement can activate, regenerate and balance your energy. However, within phases of movement must be stillness. Constant movement will disturb your energy, like on a windy day which can leave you feeling disturbed.  Cultivating balance between activity is for your energy.  Many sports people when training will spend much time in recovery. A balance of yin and yang movement is also important to maintain the correct balance of energy within your muscles.

Relationships are a way to learn about yourself and others.  Being in awareness, noticing how your energy is behaving when you are with others or even the relationship you have with yourself is worth reflecting on. Does being on your own deplete or energise or when you are with others do, they enrich or exhaust you. Speak your truth when relating to others, it is liberating.
